Updated dose rates at Tsukuba, Japan for March 21, 5:20pm
Readings are increasing from last night. There is new venting going on at reactor 3/changes in wind toward land, so this recent behavior may be evidence of these. Any dose at 0.57 microsieverts/year or higher for an entire year will put the general population over their recommended yearly maximum permissible dose of 500 millirem. This in itself is not necessarily bad, but what the Japanese want to avoid is an internal ingestion of fission products that target the thryoid, muscle and bone, i.e. Iodine 131 and Cesium 137.
